Tucked away behind a
ridge on the north side of I-70 in Vail is the growing Buffehr Creek
neighborhood. Here, developer/builder Ed Zneimer has creatively used a
conservation easement on nine acres of land to help shape growth and to protect
public access to US Forest Service lands, including the popular North Trail.
This south-facing site
is primarily an alpine grass and montane environment. It is populated by big and
small game as well as numerous non-game species.
The property's scenic
vistas include sandstone outcrops, fractured upthrusts of granite and inspiring
pinnacles. Some visible geologic formations can be dated to the Pre-Cambrian
period dating back more than 1.7 billion years.
