PTARMIGAN ROAD
Owned by the Town of
Vail, the 4.2 acre Ptarmigan Road property is located just east of Vail Village.
Surrounded on three sides by Forest Service lands, it is covered almost entirely
with aspen and spruce-fir forest. The popular Vail Hiking Trail cuts through the
southeast corner.
A consortium of
neighbors, lead by Roy and Paula May, donated the funds necessary to protect the
land with a conservation easement, which was placed on it in January 2000. As a
result of their interest and support, the property’s scenic and natural
qualities are protected forever and the popular hiking trail will remain open to
the public.
