Board Of Directors

The Eagle Valley Land Trust is currently governed by a diverse 21-member board of directors. Board members come from all points on the political spectrum and from a wide variety of disciplines.

Current directors are:

Tom Steinberg, President Emeritus
Tom moved to Vail in 1965 and was the first physician in town. He is a former Town of Vail Council member. He has been active in open space and water quality for the last 40 years.

Tom Edwards, Past President
Tom has lived in Gypsum since 1995. He is a member of the Gypsum Town Council, United Way Board of Directors, Eagle Valley Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and participates on several committees for the Town of Gypsum.

Dan Godec, President
Dan is Chief Lending Officer for Community Banks of Colorado. He has lived in the Valley for 16 years and is an active community member, serving on the boards of The Youth Foundation of Eagle County and the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival. Dan currently presides as Chairman of the Colorado Bankers Association. He and his wife Sue live in Edwards.

Cheryl Foley, Vice President
Cheryl serves as counsel in Skadden Arps' Washington, DC office. Before joining the firm in July 2001, she served as Vice President and General Counsel of a major electric and gas utility and also of a major interstate pipeline company. Cheryl is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Union Institute and University. Cheryl splits her time between her homes in Cordillera and Scottsdale.

Bob Warner, Treasurer
Bob has lived in the Valley since 1968. He has been active in real estate, development and construction. He is President of Warner Developments, Inc and the Eagle River Water and Sanitation District. He has served on numerous charitable and government boards. Bob wants to protect the quality of life in the Valley. He and his wife Jill live in Arrowhead.

Ellen Eaton, Secretary
Ellen has lived in Eagle County for 25 years. A resident of Homestead, she is a realtor with Smith Eaton Real Estate & Property Management, Inc. A mother of two, Ellen is also an active community volunteer with a wide and diverse range of experience including the Town of Vail Liquor Board, Eagle School District Accountability Committees, Eagle County Charter Academy Parent Mentor Program, Co-Founder of the Eagle County Parent Network and the Homestead Open Space Committee to mention a few. She enjoys traveling, reading, outdoor activities, including hiking, skiing and backpacking.

Steve Conlin
Steve Conlin grew up in Boulder, Colorado. A fter graduating from Boulder High he attended the University of Montana where he studied Geology and Anthropology. Since graduating from Colorado State University with a graduate degree in veterinary medicine, he has practiced both small and large animal medicine in several locations on the western slope. Steve currently works part time at Castle Peak vet service in Eagle. The rest of his time is spent managing a 3,000 acre ranch in Sweetwater and a 20,000 acre plantation in Florida . Steve Conlin has two children ages 8 and 10.

John Dunn
John has been an attorney for over forty-five years. An Illinois native, he graduated from New York University School of Law and served as a law clerk for the United States Court of Appeals in the First Circuit for a year before coming to Colorado. Since 1981, he has lived and practiced law in the Vail area, focusing on real estate and land use. An avid runner, in November 2009, John returned to the state of his alma mater to run the New York Marathon, taking pledges per mile completed to benefit the Land Trust. John and his wife Karen work together in John's law office and live in Eagle Vail.

Kent Erickson
Kent has lived in or close to Vail for nearly 40 years, since serving as night auditor at the Vail Village Inn in 1966 and as the accountant for Vail Associates, Inc. in 1967 and 1968. A CPA, he and his business partners founded an investment banking firm in Denver from which he retired in 2002 after being CFO for more than 20 years. He and his wife Barbara Krichbaum are avid skiers and support a variety of charitable organizations in the Vail area.

Kip Gates
Kip Gates is a fifth generation cattle rancher, who was born and raised on the ranch he calls home. In 2007, Kip placed a conservation easement on his 740-acre ranch which was homesteaded in 1893 by his forefathers.

Bob Hernreich
Mr. Hernreich is an owner of the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association, the Sacramento Monarchs of the WNBA and the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League. Mr. Hernreich is President of Remonov Capital, Inc., Las Vegas, Nevada, and co-owner of Remonov & Company, Edwards, Colorado. Both are private investment firms. Previously, Mr. Hernreich was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sigma Broadcasting Company, formerly Arkansas' largest television and radio station group. He was Chairman of United States Repeating Arms, maker of Winchester sporting firearms. As well as serving on the Land Trust board, Mr. Hernreich is on the Board of Directors of The Vail Valley Foundation, Beaver Creek's Vilar Center For The Arts Foundation and The Board of Trustees of Washington University in St. Louis. He is Vice-Chair of the National Advisory Board of the National Centers on Sexuality. He is a board member of The Snowsports Outreach Society He was a founding member of the Youth Foundation in Vail, a past director of K2, Inc., The Miss America Organizatio, and past chairman of the board of Colorado Parks and Outdoor Recreation.

Kimberly Rowland
Kimberly has been coming to Eagle County and has been a property owner since 1994. Since moving to Edwards full time in 2003, she has been actively engaged with and has supported numerous organizations in the area. With more than 15 years experience in the not-for-profit world, she has held volunteer leadership positions on committees at Vail Mountain School, Battle Mountain High School, The Heuga Center, and Vail Valley Medical Center. She and her husband Jim have two teenage sons. They enjoy travel, skiing, hiking, fly fishing, the arts and reading.

David Smith
David was a founding partner of Newman and Associates, a Denver-based NASD broker-dealer that was a leading firm specializing in multi-family affordable housing finance nationwide for more than 25 years, retiring from the successor firm as President and CEO in 2006. He is very active in conservation as a Board member for EVLT, as well as the Colorado Water Trust, and The Nature Conservancy (Colorado Chapter), and celebrates Eagle County's bountiful natural resources by snowshoeing, skiing, hiking, road biking and fly fishing. He and his wife have had a home in Eagle County since 1979. He is a graduate of Colorado College (B.A. Mathematics) and Harvard University (M.B.A.).
