We also have extensive private conservation holdings.  While these private conservation easements do not offer public access, they do provide important public benefits such as ranching, farming and agricultural uses thereby securing local food sources.  Private conservation helps our local family farmers, ranchers and foresters to keep their land in production, protecting the quality of our air and water, making locally grown food possible, providing critical wildlife habitat, protecting special places, and supporting rural livelihoods. It will help ensure that the land that grows our food will not be lost, protecting jobs and community values across the county, the state and our country.

According to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife, $28.7 million was added to our local economy in 2010 alone due to hunting and fishing activities. Obviously, if we do not protect and conserve open spaces for our local wildlife, we will lose this $28 million dollars in revenue. If we do not save local lands for these elk and deer and trout, the hunters and fishermen will go somewhere else, taking their dollars with them.  Private conservation protects the habitats of game and fish and thereby protects our local economy.

Below you can browse both our public and private conservation holdings.  To learn more about our easements, click on the easement name from the list below, or use the nifty interactive map to see more information for each project.
